Mental Health & the NDIS
Are you living with, or do you know of someone living with, a mental health condition?
Well there is a terrific website that can help you navigate the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
Funded by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA), produced by the Mental Health Coordinating Council and co-designed with people living with mental health conditions and their support networks, the ‘reimagine’ website guides you to understand psychosocial disability, the NDIS, checks to see if you’re eligible for NDIS funding, shows you how to apply, helps you to think about what is possible, and provides information about planning.
The website helps adults under 65 years of age living with a mental health condition to better understand the NDIS and what supports and services it can offer. It speaks directly to you as a person living with a mental health condition and aims to provide you with the information and support you need to access the NDIS as one resource in your recovery.
This website supports the belief that recovery is about achieving an optimal life of personal, social and emotional wellbeing, as defined by each individual, whilst living with or recovering from a mental health condition.
This website is for all people living with a mental health condition to understand the NDIS, whether they have a psychosocial disability or not.
If you don’t have a computer or smartphone, or have trouble using them, you might like to visit your local library or community centre or ask a friend, family member or carer to help. GIFSA would be more than happy to meet with you and discuss the resource together.
Although the Goldfields-Esperance region does not transition to the NDIS until 01 October 2018, there is no harm in been prepared well in advance and therefore GIFSA encourages people with a mental health condition, friends and family to explore this very helpful website http://reimagine.today/Back to Articles
