Information for Support Workers



Support workers have the right to:

   - Work in a safe environment without harassment;
   - Free access to the co-ordinator;
   - Be free to withdraw from a care situation if uncomfortable for any reason, with
     no loss of employment opportunity;
   - Support from the co-ordinator in all aspects of service provision;
   - Fair remuneration for work performed and adequate insurance protection;
   - Access to information and training;
   - Confidentiality, respect and courtesy;
   - A smoke free environment;
   - Limit duties to the care of the individual. Support workers are not required to
     complete domestic tasks that are outside the immediate care needs of the individual.

Support workers have the responsibility to:

   - Present and maintain professional attitudes;
   - Dress appropriately - neat casual attire is required but no uniforms;
   - Be punctual;
   - Maintain confidentiality at all times;
   - Provide appropriate feedback to the co-ordinator;
   - Obtain and maintain senior First Aid certificates and police clearances.
